Fay Yates Reed of Big Spring passed away January 23, 2005 at the Hospice House in Odessa.She was born to Mildred Lavenia Yates and William Radford Yates in Tuscola, Texas. After graduating high school in Big Spring, Texas, she married W. H. (Bill) Reed on December 8, 1939. Fay worked for the State National Bank in Big Spring and retired as Assistant Vice President after 32 years of service. She was an instructor for Principals of Banking for AIB courses at Howard College and served as secretary-treasurer for the March of Dimes. She was previously vice president and on the Executive Board of the Heritage Museum and worked with the Chamber of Commerece in the 1960's serving on the Aviation Committee. Fay was on the Parks and Recreation Board for the City of Big Spring and with her husband, Bill, owned the Bill Reed Insurance Agency. Fay and Bill were active in the Ambassadors' Club, ABC Club and many civic affairs in Big Spring.Fay was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bill Reed, her parents, one sister, Elsie Miller, and two brothers, George Yates, and W. R. (Speck) Yates.Fay is survived by her sister, Janis Petty Moore of Midland; her sister-in-law, Helen Yates of Lakeland, Florida; neices, Jody Thigpen of Beaumont, Donna Legro of Houston, and Edie Yates Bayless of Lakeland, Florida; nephews, Barry Petty of Midland, Steve Petty of Southlake, Rad Yates of Strongville, Ohio, Rev. Bill Yates of Camp Wingman, Florida, Dr. Dave Yates of Lakeland, Florida and friend, Mel Stinson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.Fay's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Cimarron House in Midland and Home Hospice of Midland.Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 PM, January 26, 2005 at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.
