Evanell Johnson Truszkowski, age 93 died after living a full and productive life on June 18, 2018, at Parks Retirement Village, Odessa, Texas.Evanell is survived by her son, Ralph Truszkowski, daughter-in-law Cheryl, granddaughter Kelcy and great granddaughter Azalynn of Midland, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Edmund Truszkowski.Evanell was born on August 06, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, to parents Ben and Clare Johnson. She studied Civil Engineering and Interior Design at Southern Methodist University during the early 1940’s, she was the only woman at that time enrolled in Civil Engineering. She worked as a structural designer for Mosher Steel and as a site civil designer for several consulting engineering firms in the Dallas area. In later years she pursued a second career in interior design with Home Interiors and was self-employed as an event consultant in the Dallas area.Evanell was able to work and find time to be a devoted mother and wife. Evanell has been active and held leadership positions in the Farmers Branch Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Big Spring Symphony Guild, among several other organizations. Evanell has been an active member, board member and/or Deacon in East Dallas Christian Church, First Christian Church of Big Spring, Texas and Connection Christian Church of Odessa, Texas.Graveside services are scheduled for Friday June 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.at the Chapel Gardens of Restland, Dallas, Texas. Rev. Colin McRaney, Minister of Church Life, East Dallas Christian Church will officiate. A memorial service will be held at Parks Retirement Village, Odessa, Texas at a time and date to be determined. Dr. Joe Weaks and Dr. Dawn Weaks, Co-lead Pastors of Connection Christian Church will officiate.
