Eva Naomi Martin went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the age of 97. She was born November 12, 1909 in Allen County, Delaware, Ohio to Evelyn and Jacob Culver. Both parents preceded her in death as did her two brothers, Richard and Joseph. On May 29, 1929 Eva married E.W. "Jack" Martin in Borger, Texas.Survivors include one daughter, Jacquelyne Cromwell of Midland, Texas; one son, Donald Ray Martin and his wife Mary Beth of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Her daughter, Patricia Sue Sahli preceded her in death in 1999. Grandchildren include Steve Cromwell and his wife Diane of Edmond, Oklahoma, Douglas Sahli of Amarillo, Texas, Don Sahli and his wife Cindy of Evergreen, Colorado, Jim Martin of Chandler, Arizona, and Jon Martin of Tuscon, Arizona. Eva has five great grandchildren, David Cromwell and his wife Tamara, Laura Cromwell, Jeff and Sam Sahli and Jimmie Martin. Frank Phillips College opened in 1948 and Eva opened and operated Kampus Korner near the college. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her pie making. She was involved in ceramics, china painting, water color and oil painting and a wonderful seamstress. She loved making dolls and doll clothes but her favorite was making animal friends for her grandchildren. Eva was an avid sports fan. With the passing of her husband in 1960 Eva sold Kampus Korner and took a correspondence course in hotel and dietary management and was hired by the School for Visually Handicapped in Alamagorda, New Mexico as Matron from 1962-1965. Thinking she had retired she was called back to the school in 1969 to 1972. Eva was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Alamagorda and was a lifetime member of the Borger Chapter of Eastern Star.The family will receive friends Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2007, at 3:00 P.M. at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Reverend Bob Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Highland Cemetery in Borger, Texas with Roy Haley officiating.The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O.
