Eva May Shanks, 81, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2005, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Don Snipes, pastor of Baptist Temple Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on December 16, 1923, in Comanche County, Texas.Ms. Shanks moved to Howard County in 1940 and took care of her parents until their death. Eva May had enjoyed being a resident of Comanche Trail Nursing Home for over nine years where she truly enjoyed the staff and residents very much. She was a member of Baptist Temple Church.Survivors include one sister, Jimmye Burks and husband, Leonard of Big Spring; six brothers, Clim Shanks, Howard Shanks and wife, Charlene, Charlie Shanks and wife, LaRue and Wade Shanks and wife, Dorothy all of Big Spring, Grover Shanks, Jr. and wife, Doylean of May, and Autov Shanks and wife, Mary of Del Rio; one sister-in-law, Florene Shanks of Proctor Lake; fourteen nieces; eleven nephews; and a special friend from Comanche Trail Nursing Home, Donna Downey. She was preceded in death by one sister, Norene Guill; two brothers, Doyle Shanks and John Shanks; and one sister-in-law, Ruby Shanks.
