On November 1st, 2007, in the evening hours, Eva IdaBelle Bankston passed from this world to be with her Heavenly Father and her Lord Jesus Christ. Services for IdaBelle will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 5, 2007, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Herb McPherson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.Pallbearers will be Landon McMurtrey, Joe McMurtrey, Kenny Duffer, Steve Sundy, Mark Sundy and Ronald Sundy.The family will be at her home at 1811 Mittel.IdaBelle came into this world on February 3, 1931 in Flomaton, Alabama and married Carl H. Bankston on June 24, 1950. After sharing fifty years of their lives together in holy matrimony, he preceded her in death on April 24, 2000. She is survived by their two daughters, Karen Bobette McMurtrey and husband, Larry of Mertzon and Brenda Kay McMurtrey and husband, Tommy of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Vanessa Duffer and husband, Kenny, Landon McMurtrey and wife, Michelle, Joe McMurtrey and Lacy McMurtrey; and four great grandchildren, Stephanie Duffer, Melissa Duffer, Bryson McMurtrey and Josephine Schindler. She had five brothers, Albert, Monroe and Jimmy Sundy, who have passed on, and Allen and Clark Sundy, who survive her. IdaBelle is also preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Susie Sundy.IdaBelle Bankston was part of many organizations including her church home, Calvary Baptist Church, The Mighty Oaks Club and the Senior Citizens Center. IdaBelle devoted her life to Christ, her family and helping others whether a stranger or friend. She is remembered as a loving, generous and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and all around great woman to all of those who knew her. She was always looking for good deeds to do for people, to bear witness to them and set an example along with a standard of living life and serving the Lord to her fullest extent. IdaBelle was one of the most selfless people to all that knew her, she was loved deeply throughout the community and will be missed greatly by all.The family would like to thank all of the people who helped to care for Mrs. Bankston, including Nurses' Hospice of Big Spring and Caring Hearts Home Health, in her final hours of need.
