Eugene H. Halfmann, 87, of Amarillo, formerly of Big Spring, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 4, at the funeral home. Eugene was born December 4, 1926 in Lott, TX and married Jerline Mazur November 16, 1949 in Wall, Texas. Gene served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was an aircraft mechanic. He worked at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring for 18 years. He was known for his delicious tomatoes and his love for the Texas Rangers. He also loved to hunt and fish and play dominoes. He is survived by his wife, Jerline Halfmann of Amarillo; two sons, Gene Halfmann, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Tulsa, OK, and Gregg Halfmann and wife, Cindy of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Linda Halfmann of Amarillo, and Cindy Worthan of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Amanda Claxton of Tulsa, Chad Webb of Durham, NC, Whitney Rodriguez of Midland, and Drake Worthan of Big Spring; two great grandchildren, Kassidy Claxton and Annabelle Webb; two brothers, Melvin Halfmann and Maurice Halfmann; one sister, Mildred Campbell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Christopher, Sr. and Florence (Murphy) Halfmann; three brothers, Joe Halfmann, Jr., Donald Halfmann, and Robert Halfmann; and one sister, Kay Sensat.
