Ernest Wayne Gibbs Sr., born in July 22,1940, in Knott, Texas, United States, passed away February 24, 2026 under the care of Hospice in Focus Care Nursing home in Midland Texas. He was the beloved son of Evandor and Mary Gibbs. Ernest married his loving wife Thelma in 1959 and together they raised two children, Ernest Wayne Gibbs Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Sharp.

Ernest studied at Knott Highschool and went on to work as a Farmer until his retirement in 2002. He was known for his passion for woodwork and fishing, spending many hours honing his skills in these hobbies.

Ernest is preceded in death by his spouse Thelma Gibbs, parents Evandor and Mary Gibbs, his brothers HT Bachar, EL Gibbs, and his son-in-law Richard Sharp.

Is survived by his sister Sue Wilson of Missouri, his two children Ernest Wayne Gibbs Jr. spouse Dawn Farley Gibbs and Elizabeth Ann Sharp of Midland, and eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be Tuesday, March 3rd 2026, 2:00pm at Fairview Cemetery in Midland, Texas.

Ernest will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
