Erna Jewell Wadsworth, 87, of Odessa formerly of Big Spring, died on Monday, February 23, 2009, in an Odessa hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 27, 2009 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring with Rev. Terry Pugh, pastor of First United Pentacostal Church in Odessa, officiating.She was born on March 12, 1921, in Bivens, Texas and married W. E. Wadsworth on August 29, 1938 in Wink, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1988.Mrs. Wadsworth had been a resident of Big Spring before moving to Odessa in 1968. She was a member of the Odessa Senior Center and Dance Club and attended many area senior dances. She had also been a member of the Big Spring and Odessa bowling leagues.She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Odessa.Survivors include two sons, Jerry L. Wadsworth of Midland and Benny R. Wadsworth of Pocahontas, Arkansas; one daughter, Karla Susan Clanton of Houston; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Karla, Jerry & Benny, I have been thinking the past few days of the wonderful long friendship I had with your Mom and the many good times we had. She had the happiest laugh (only your Aunt Nita could laugh as loud) and I know you all have many good memories to share. One of my funniest was in 1968 when I stopped by to pick Jewel up for the National Bowling Tournament in San Antonio and your Dad came out carrying her bowling bowl. He took me aside and told me to find Jewel someone to sleep with because she could not sleep by herself. He was so sweet about it and so serious that I decided then and there I would sleep with Jewel. And boy, could she hug! We had so many good times. And she and Frances died on the same day and are being buried in the same cemetery, isn't that a God thing, I know they are already dancing in heaven and having a good time.
