Ercell Burnell Howard, 75, of Stanton, died on Friday, October 19, 2001 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2001 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Haynie, pastor of Shepherd Of The Hills Baptist Church in Nocona, officiating. Assisting will be Rev. David Harp, pastor of First Baptist Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. He was born on September 12, 1926 in Chillicothe, Texas and married Nita Notgrass on May 1, 1948 in Stanton, Texas. He was a collector of 800 plus rocking horses. He was a past president of the Martin County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Martin County Sheriff's Posse. He had also been a little league coach and cub scout leader. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Nita Howard of Stanton; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Norma Howard of Follett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Mike Haynie of Whitesboro and Lois and Leroy Scoggins of Stanton; two sisters, Lena Holt of May and Pearl Smith of Loraine; one brother, W.T. Howard of Grand Terrace, California; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Curtis Howard and Gordon Howard; and one grandson, Gene Howard. The Family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 4P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.,
