Emma Mae Carlton, 87, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham, minister of 14th and Main Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on March 11, 1921, in Denton, Texas and married Travis O. Carlton on March 10, 1940 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1986.Emma came to Big Spring from Breckenridge as a young girl. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1938. Emma managed Zales stores in Lubbock, Abilene and Big Spring for 21 years, retiring in 1991. She had been a member of the Redbud Garden Club. She was also a member of 14th and Main Church of Christ.Survivors include a daughter, LuAnn Carlton and husband, Joseph Chisum of San Antonio; a son, Clayton "Dick" Carlton and wife, Suzanne of Ransom Canyon; four granddaughters, Shannon Lynn Jordan, Trina and husband, Dr. Jeffery Snuggs and their children, Sydney, Kendall and Reagan, Paylee Taylor and her children, Keara, Ricky and Riley Rowland, Ashlee White and husband, Jerry and their children, Bailee Mae Bingham, Colby Travis White and Hanna Charlene White; two sisters, Violet Wood of Stafford and Mary Jane Campbell and husband, Gene of Colorado City. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Carlton Owens.
