Elva Westerman Murphy, 94, of Big Spring, Texas, died on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 9, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Gaylon Lamb, minister of the Ackerly Church of Christ and Billy Reed, minister of the Anderson Street Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on June 21, 1910, in Knox County, Texas and married Lloyd B. Murphy on November 18, 1927 in Lubbock, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1990.Mrs. Murphy came to Big Spring in 1942 when Lloyd was stationed at the Big Spring Bombarder School. She was a homemaker and had worked for Gene Nabors in the laundry business. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Anderson St. Church of Christ. She volunteered and served as a Pink Lady at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.Survivors include her son, Pat Wayne Murphy of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Laura Christin Holder of Nacogdoches, Timothy Shane Murphy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Misty Michelle Bray of Slaton, and Jessica Jill Weeks of Lovington, New Mexico; eight great grandchildren and two nephew, E. B. Murphy of Midland and Alvin Westerman of Midvale, Utah. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Martha Westerman; two brothers and three sisters.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, P.O.
