Elmer L. Coomer, 92, of Midland passed away on April 5, 2009 at the Hospice House in Odessa. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park.He was born on December 17, 1916 in Hamilton Texas to Ether and Della Coomer. He entered the Army in October 1941 and was honorably discharged December 24, 1944. Elmer married Wanda Rumfield on June 17, 1944 in Mineral Wells. Elmer and Wanda moved to Midland in 1946. Elmer and Wanda were married 64 years. Elmer accepted his Savior, Jesus Christ in 1953 in Edcouch, Texas. He was a member of the Baptist church. He was a loving caregiver, a devoted husband and loving father. He loved to travel, especially to new places. Survivors include his wife Wanda Coomer of Midland; son Herman Coomer of Plainview, TX; son Don Coomer of Midland; daughter Sheila Cathcart of Dallas; grandchild, Rance Coomer of Lewisville; sister, Murl Carruth of Andrews; and several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ether and Della Coomer, 6 brothers, Lee, Ernest, Jack, Preston, Nolan and Olen Coomer and 2 sisters, Mary Willis and Lennie Hall.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Home Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston Odessa, TX 79761 or to the donor's choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
