Ellis Poitevint, 86, of Big Spring, died on Friday, December 19, 2008, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jess Colegrove and Rev. Steven King, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home.Ellis was born on July 15, 1922 in Balmorhea and grew up in the Pecos area. He married Betty Adams Brown on October 25, 1958 in Pecos and had celebrated their 50th Anniversary on October 25th. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1940 – 1945 and was a civil service employee until he retired at Webb Air Force Base in September 1977.Ellis was a member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School superintendent for 11 years and was treasurer for over 20 years.Survivors include his wife, Betty Poitevint of Big Spring; two sons, David Poitevint and wife, Linda of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Stephen Poitevint and wife, Cheryl of Big Spring; one daughter, Patricia Sims and husband, John of Fort Worth; two step sons, Adrian Brown and wife, Pam of Snyder and Calvin Brown of El Paso; one brother, Duane Poitevint and wife, Janella of Pecos; three sisters, Joyce Bingham and husband, Charles of Big Sandy, Darlene Cantrell and Gay Camp and husband, Joe all of Temple; six grandchildren, Brian Poitevint, Chris Poitevint, Cheryl Lynn Poitevint, Leanne Sosebee, Jennifer Brown and Melissa Brown; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
