Elizabeth “Ann” McDaniel, 89, of Midland, TX passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016.Ann, the third child of four of Friend Holcomb Talbott and Clara Mae Soldan was born November 19, 1926 in Beatrice, NE. At the age of 11, Ann and her family returned to Clara Mae's birthplace of Big Spring, TX, in 1937. After graduating Big Spring High School in 1943, Ann attended Hardin-Simmons College, Texas Wesleyan College, and Texas Tech University where she studied Music.Ann married her childhood sweetheart Boyd Jack McDaniel on June 4, 1947 in Big Spring, TX, returning to College Station where Jack completed his degree in Civil Engineering in 1948, Class of ‘45.In 1953, Ann and Jack moved to Abilene, TX, where Jack joined his father in the contracting business. After Jack began his career as Director of Public Works with the City of Abilene, they moved to Corpus Christi, Houston, and Austin as they followed his various appointments. Upon retirement, they moved to Kerrville, eventually making their final move to Manor Park in Midland, TX.Following her love and study of music, Ann served as Choir Director at St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Abilene. While in Corpus, she worked for general manager George Green at Dillard's Department Store, and continued in the same line of work in Houston at Foley's.Ann was an active member and volunteer of the Junior League in Abilene, Corpus Christi, Houston, and Austin. She was a staunch member of the Republican Women's Club, as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Ann loved her gardening and became a member of the Austin Junior League Garden Club and Anderson Mill Garden Club, where she is credited for starting the annual quilt tradition for scholarship money, still going strong today.Ann is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents Friend Holcomb and Clara Mae Talbott, siblings Charles Blakely Talbott, William Soldan Talbott, and Bonnie Lou Talbott.Ann is survived by her son Boyd John and wife Janet Zinn McDaniel of Midland, TX, and Jan's children Chris Mouton, wife Rachel and children of Jenks, OK, and Carrie Armbruster-Grosch, husband Mark and children of Cedar Park, TX; daughter Bonnie Beth and husband Ronald James Clements of Houston, TX, and children Emma Yvonne Clements, husband Richard Graham and children of Reading, England; Nicole Elizabeth Clements and husband Joshua Fraser of Lawrence, KS, and Ryan James Clements of Houston, TX; and her much-loved nieces and nephews.The family expresses their gratitude towards their church family at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland; the staff and healthcare workers at Midland Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Midland, and loving caregiver Lucy Armendariz.The Memorial Service will be held at Manor Park Chapel at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2016.
