Elizabeth J. "Liz" Eaton, 85, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery in Midland with Chaplain Larry Hood, officiating. Her body will lie in state Friday, March 20 for visitation at the funeral home.Liz was born February 20, 1924 in Midland to Katy and Thomas Montgomery. She was raised in Marathon and the Alpine area. She met and married Lyle "Blackie" Eaton on May 25, 1944 in Illinois. They lived in Illinois and Florida, before moving to Midland in 1967. Blackie preceded Liz in death on August 1, 1968.Liz worked for Taco Plaza for a number of years. She also worked for MISD in the cafeteria and Hays Construction. She retired as an employee of Dairy Queen. When Liz was not at work, she was always busy. Her hobbies included sewing, carpentry, crafts, puzzles and painting.Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Eddy Bowman of Midland; adopted daughter, Dee Alexander of Midland; 3 granddaughters, ReBecka Sligler, LoriBeth Bowman and Denise Bowman, all of Midland; and brother and sister-in-law, Thomas H. & Francis Montgomery of Midland; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Eva Beth Carder.The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
