Elisa Rodriguez from Midland, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 99. Rosary for Elisa will be held on Tuesday evening, March 28, 2023, 7:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 10am with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Elisa was born on September 25, 1923 to Maria and Juan Jurado in Candelaria, TX in Presidio County. She loved to sew and ride horses as a young girl and lived from the covered wagon and horse & buggy era, to crank engines, and the modern motor vehicle. She also enjoyed early technologies of the Golden Age of Radio, boxed televisions, home telephones through cellphone technology.
She later became a housewife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing from home throughout her life and enjoyed her work as a seamstress in the alterations department of Dunlap’s department store in Midland for many years.
They became members of St. George’s church in 1953 and later, she began her faith-filled service to God at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she helped with the many annual family fairs, fundraisers, and other services, such as hospital and home-bound prayer services during her Guadalupana membership. She was a member of the Women’s Altar Society and Cursillista’s of Midland. Elisa enjoyed traveling with family or independently throughout the U.S. She loved both community and family, always making sure her children were loved.
She is survived by her children, Alice, Frances, Carolyn, Betty, Oscar, Lucy, Raymond, Gracie, and Melissa, sons-in-law Wayne, Marion and Bobby, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters, husband Raymundo, two sons, Ismael and Jesse.
Pallbearer services will be provided by her sons and grandsons.
The family wishes to thank Our Lady of Guadalupe’s, Christina Barela who faithfully provided communion services for several years, Hospice of Midland, the many friends and acquaintances that remained in touch over the years. Memorials can be donated to Our Lady of Guadalupe church’s communion ministry of Midland.
