In Loving Memory
We celebrate the life of Elaine Stanley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on October 1st at the age of 89. Her life was marked by grace, resilience, and a deep love for her family and community.
Born to AC Bridges and Myrtle Clark in Kisatchie, Louisiana, she was also lovingly raised by her earthy mother, Edith Cobb, whose nurturing spirit shaped much of her early life. She was preceded in death by her parents, AC and Myrtle; her cherished mother Edith; her beloved son, Gerald Ray Stanley; and her siblings, Gwen, Lamar, Gaile, and Edie. Their memories live on in the stories she told and the traditions she upheld.
She survived by her husband D.A. Stanley; her loving siblings, Patricia Ann Bridges, Harold Bridges, and Fred Bridges; two sons, Bruce Stanley and Roger Stanley; grandchildren, Amanda Binnix, Alaina Loredo, Courtney Sundin, Kelly Glenn, Paden Stanley, Amber Mauldin, Ashlea Mitchell, and Keith Stanley; and 17 cherished great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife to D.A. for 72 years, and together they built a home filled with love and the aroma of her excellent cooking. She was a talented seamstress, a creative soul who crocheted and crafted with skill, and she found comfort in the simple pleasures—especially her morning coffee and graham crackers.
A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, Elaine was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Stanton and Bellwood Baptist Church of Bellwood, Louisiana, where she served faithfully for many years. She taught Sunday School, sang hymns with joy, and kept the financial books with care and precision, always offering her gifts in service to the Lord and her community.
Visitation will be held on October 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton, Texas, where family and friends will gather to honor her life and share in the joy of her memory. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on October 6th at 10:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com
