Elaine Merrick Waddill, 81, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at the Home Hospice House in Odessa. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Pastor Marcella Bassett, pastor of God's Rainbow Promises Fellowship Church, officiating.The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.She was born on February 16, 1927, in New London, Connecticut. She married Frank C. Merrick in 1944 in New London, Connecticut and he preceded her in death in 1971. She then married Robert Waddill in May 1979 and he preceded her in death in 1993.She had been a resident of Big Spring since 1973. She enjoyed portrait sketching, shadow art, bowling, gardening and loved her family and times spent together. She was a Baptist.Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia Booth and partner, Nancy Reed, Lorene Merrick, G. Marie Merrick and Marsha Gross and husband, Ronald all of Big Spring; one son, William R. Merrick III of Big Spring; two step sons, Bill Waddill of Big Spring and Bobby Waddill of Odessa; one tep daughter, Cathy Hammond and husband, Ron of Odessa; one brother, William H. "Bill" Tooker, Jr. of , Louisiana; two sisters, Patricia Krich and husband, David and Lorraine Tooker all of Pennsylvania; 32 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Alan Merrick. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society Memorial Program, % Carolyn Brooks, P.O.
