Edward Kennedy, Jr., 89, of Midland, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Edward was born August 19, 1923 in Sentinel Butte, ND to Jeannette and Edward Kennedy, Sr. He served in the United States Army in World War II from May 1943 through January 1946. He received a purple heart for service in the European Theatre. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Masters degree in Geology. He worked as an independent geologist, specializing in the Permian Basin from 1950 until his death.Edward was a member of the West Texas Geological Society and Sipes & Midland Archeological Society. He and his wife, Margaret were former members of two local dance clubs. Survivors include wife, Margaret of Midland; daughter, Blix Ann Masterson and husband Richard of Midland; granddaughter, Stephanie Guss and husband Michael of Midland; granddaughter, Kyndra Jones and husband Bradley of Big Spring; great grandson, Will Dworsky of Midland; great grandson, Kyle Jones and wife Annette of Stafford, VA; and great grandson, Myles Jones of Big Spring.He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 stepdaughters, Kathy Smith and Bonnie Fox, and brother, Bernerd Kennedy.The family wishes to express thanks to the staff at Home Hospice.
