Edward Allen Welch, 54, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, December 14, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with Rev. Namiqa Shipman, District Superintendent Big Spring District United Methodist Church, officiating assisting will be Lay Pastor Jackie Mauch of North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church. He was born on December 3, 1954, in Victoria, Texas and married Sheila Mae Fryar on June 3, 1978 in Brownwood, Texas. He served in the United States Army and graduated from the Army Nursing School in San Antonio in 1985, and was stationed in Germany. He was then deployed December of 1990 to May of 1991 in Desert Storm.He then returned to Germany and after one year returned to San Antonio in June of 1992. He was discharged from active duty in 1994. When he came to Big Spring he worked at Scenic Mountain Medical Center as an LVN. and then went to work at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 2004. He was a member of Northside United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Welch of Big Spring; his father and step mother, Edward C. and Evelyn Welch of Tuscola; three brothers, Ronnie Welch of Port LaVaca, Walter Welch of Plano, and Alfred Welch of Brownwood; 1 nephew and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dafonal Stennata Welch in 1983 and one sister, Linda Carol Welch. The family suggests memorials be made to North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church, 2702 N.
