Edman "Ed" McMurray, 71, of Big Spring, died on Monday, December 15, 2008, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Chaplain Larry Hood of Home Hospice in Midland, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.He was born on October 2, 1937, in Big Spring, Texas and married Wanda Shelley on February 5, 1959 in Big Spring, Texas.Ed was a lifelong resident of Big Spring and attended Big Spring High School. He had served in the United States Army. He worked for Taylor Implement and later went to work for Cosden Refinery, working as an operator, and retired in 2000. He was a third generation farmer, farming in the Luther Community for many years. Ed loved hunting, fishing and gardening, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren.He was a member of Berea Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Wanda McMurray of Big Spring, Texas; three daughters & sons-in-law, Nikita & Eddy West of Victoria, Deidre and Keith Knox of Grantsville, Utah and Shelley and Ron Graham of Midland; one son & daughter-in-law, Wade and Cheryl McMurray of Waxahachie; three brothers & sisters-in-law, J. R. and Jackie McMurray of Midland, Ray and Joyce McMurray of Orange Grove and Earl and Wanda McMurray of Big Spring; two sisters, Dorothy Newby of Big Spring and Mary Klahr of Eunice, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Krista Wilkerson and husband, Abe and Kaci West all of Victoria, Kody Whaley and Klate Graham both of Midland and Braxton McMurray, Josh McMurray and Reagan McMurray all of Waxahachie; a great grandson, Kooper Wilkerson of Victoria; and special friends, Dub and Faye Day of Forsan.He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and numerous aunts and uncles.
