Edith Florence Townsend, went to her eternal home on Mother’s Day, May 10th, 2026. Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and teacher. She cherished the opportunity to worship her Savior through singing and service. Throughout her life, she poured out His love to others through participation in mission trips, church ministry and a constant devotion to helping the next generation achieve their God-given potential. She fought the devastating disease of Alzheimer’s over 10 years with grace and dignity.
Edith was born August 5th, 1941 to Haskel and Winona Williamson in Weatherford, Texas. She grew up in a military family and had many fond memories of life in Panama where her father was stationed. Her father would finish his career at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. Edith enjoyed life in El Paso and graduated from UTEP, where she was a part of the traveling choir. She began her teaching career in El Paso, enjoyed teaching on an Indian reservation in Arizona, and eventually completed her career in Lewisville, TX.
Edith is survived by her beloved daughters, Celeste Rogers, Camille Landis and Charlotte Hunt, and along with their husbands Neil, Aaron, and John. She delighted in life with grandchildren, Charity Rogers, Nathan Rogers, Colin Rogers, Louis Hixon, Gretchen Landis, Jocelyn Landis, Anders Hunt Georgia Hunt along with many nieces and nephews.
Edith is survived by her brother Ralph Williamson and wife Gingah, sister Ruth Gard and husband Dwight, and Sister-in-law Pam Williamson. She is preceded in death by her parents Haskel and Winona Williamson and brother, Haskel Williamson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cimmaron Place Assisted Living, Midland Medical Lodge and UT Southwestern for their kindness and grace in helping Edith live out her life with dignity. In lieu to flowers, honorariums can be sent to Watoto Children’s Choirs so that God’s praise will continue to resonate throughout the Nations.
A visitation is scheduled at Nalley-Pickle and Welch funeral home from 5-6:30pm on Friday, May 15th. A memorial service is scheduled at Nalley-Pickle and Welch at 11:30 on Saturday, May 16th.
