Edith Berneice "Granny" Coats, 84, of Big Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 16, 2008, in a local nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.Granny was born on February 12, 1924, in Pryor, Oklahoma to Clifford Green West and Lydia Esther Shimp.She married the love of her life and dancing partner Q.T. Coats, Sr. on December 15, 1942 in Pecos, Texas. He preceded her in death. They were charter members of College Baptist Church.She was co-owner of A Timeless Design Florist, a homemaker, and a great friend to everyone.Survivors include two sons, Q.T. Coats, Jr. and, Tommy Coats and companion, Lupe Rowland all of Big Spring; one daughter, Debby Reed of Midland; granddaughters, Deedra Rice and husband, Clay of Midland, and Marcie Lee Camacho and husband, Steven of Lubbock; great granddaughters, Stormie Reed, Elizabeth and Claire Rice, and Shadee and Andree Camacho; two sisters, Shirley Davis and husband, Bill and Pat Hodges and two brothers, Jim West and wife, Sherry and George West and wife, Judy.She was also preceded in death by one sister, Esther Davis.
