Edith Anne “Puff” Aycock, age 91, died on Saturday, July 18, 2015 peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Midland Memorial Hospital. Puff was born February 10, 1924 to Thomas W. and Miriam (Vining) Brabham and was the middle of three children. She was a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a degree in education. While attending Southwestern, Puff met Cecil Sandefer Aycock, Jr. and the two were married. The happy couple took up permanent residence in Midland in 1950 where they remained to raise their three children. Puff was an ardent advocate for individuals with disabilities. She actively participated in the MARC organization in Midland which exists to empower disabled individuals. For her service, Puff received the MARC Volunteer Trimble Service Appreciation award in 1987, the 1990 Showcase Award for Developmental Disability Community Services, and multiple other service appreciation certificates throughout the years.Left to honor Puff and remember her love are Puff’s sister, Patricia Brabham; her daughter Judith Anne Aycock. Her four grandchildren and their spouses; Ashley and Christopher Cannatti, Nicole and Howard Slobodin, Lindsey and Jared Sewell, and Nathan and Danna Ensign; six great grandchildren; Stephen Cannatti, Nathan, Jr. and Kyla Ensign, Jordan Sewell, Natalya and Henry Slobodin, as well as her nephew and nieces. Puff was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her brother, Thomas M. Brabham; her son, Stephen Burney Aycock; her daughter, Terry Kim Ensign; and her grandson, Sgt. Brett Aaron Aycock. Puff will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she was a member.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 3:00 pm at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, 3011 Kansas Ave. Midland, TX with the Rev. Kathryn Boren officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 22 at the Nalley-Pickle Welch Funeral Home in Midland, and again at the church prior to the time of service.
