Eddie A. Yancey, 89, of Odessa, formerly of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, in an Odessa nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 20, 2007 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel, Big Spring with Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.She was born on August 22, 1917, in Coleman, Texas and married Elton Yancey on April 15, 1933 in Sterling City, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1992.Mrs. Yancey had lived in the Big Spring area for many years and moved to Odessa in 1988. She enjoyed cooking and canning and loved her grandchildren. She was a former member of Airport Baptist Church in Big Spring and a member of Temple Baptist Church in Odessa. She loved the Lord dearly.Survivors include two daughters, Cleta Satterwhite of Odessa and Verna Turner of Big Spring; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Susie Yancey of Big Spring; ten grandchildren, Mike Turner and Pam Teel of Roswell, New Mexico, Darrell W. Yancey of Yukon, Oklahoma, Robert Smith of Big Spring, Sissy Franklin and Tammy Griffith of Coahoma, Terry Smith of Odessa, Duffy Yancey of Big Spring and Mitzi Best of Sweetwater; 17 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Chris Smith and eleven brothers and sisters. Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.The family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, Midland Office, 10 Desta Drive, Suite 220E, Midland, Texas 79705.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
