Earnest W. Greer, 81, of Big Spring, died on Monday, November 7, 2005, in a Houston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Teeters, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.He was born on July 9, 1924, in Big Spring, Texas and married Marie O'Brien on November 29, 1952 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 1, 1995.Earnest worked as a brakeman and conductor for forty years before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.Survivors include two sons, Carl Phillip Haynes and John Gordon Haynes both of Houston; and two grandchildren.
