Earnest A. "Ernie" Richters, 91, of Coahoma, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Coahoma with Rev. Monroe Teeters, officiating and Rev. Guy White assisting. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Friday at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Coahoma. He was born on February 19, 1918, in Saltillo, Texas and married Lucille Arnett on January 20, 1939 in Midland, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2005.Earnest served his country in the United States Army during World War ll. He was a deacon of deacons serving over 50 years. He was a big supporter and encourager of Coahoma Athletics. He was a true servant of God, and was fun loving and a great father. He served as Mayor of Coahoma and was a member of the Lions Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Coahoma. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Veta and Billy Spears of Coahoma, Shirlene and John Topping of San Antonio and Linda and R.L. Coates of Coahoma; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne and Alice Richters of Alvarado, Dean and Kathy Richters of Coahoma and Don and Susie Richters of Eldorado; 16 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 53 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Ginger Darden- Davis and Madeline Foster Raney; one brother and two sisters.
