Earl Mont Roark, Jr., 78, of Midland passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014. The family will be accepting guests from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, June 27th, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th, at 11:00am at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.Earl was born on August 22, 1935 in Abingdon, Virginia to Earl and Sally Mae Henry Roark. When Earl was seventeen years old, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After the Navy he returned to school and received his high school diploma, then enlisted in the Air Force. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1965. He learned to shoot at the age of seven and was an expert marksman. He won many awards during his military career. Earl ended his military service in Dennison, Texas and moved his young family to Monahans, Texas where he worked and retired for Southwestern Bell/ AT&T. He raised three boys during that time, Monty, James, and Marvin Lee. In 2001, he married Lorraine McCall Roark and together the two moved to Midland, Texas. Earl’s favorite hobby was hunting, but when he wasn’t outdoors he spent his time collecting guns, coins, Civil War memorabilia, and photography. He frequently met with his friends and enjoyed coffee at Whataburger. Earl was a private, reserved man that loved to have everything organized, but he also was very friendly and loving. He will be greatly missed by his friends and his family.Earl is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Lorraine Roark; children, Monty (Earl Mont III) Roark and wife, Shelia; James Roark and wife, Tammy; Marvin Lee Roark and wife, Veronica; brother, William Roark and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Jody Briggs, Alexandra Hester, Sarah Roark, Jake Roark, Thomas Roark, Lucas Roark, and Dawson Hardy; two great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Sally Mae Roark; sisters, Joann Torbett and Jean Clark; and brother, Marvin Roark.,
