E. C. Bell, 81, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2003, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2003, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Dave Ring, pastor of First United Methodist Church and Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. He was born on December 11, 1921 in Big Spring, Texas and married Jessie Killingsworth on March 26, 1948 in Abilene, Texas. E. C. was a lifelong resident of Big Spring, graduating from Big Spring High School in 1938. He attended Texas A & M University and was a member of the class of 1942. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1950, E. C. graduated from the University of Texas School of Pharmacy. He returned to Big Spring and worked for Gounds Pharmacy until opening Bell's Pharmacy in 1954, which he owned and operated until retiring on December 31, 1999. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. E. C. loved life and had a great sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and customers and was a avid animal lover. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jessie Bell of Big Spring; one son, Guy Bell of Denton; one daughter, Ann Carter and husband, Tom of Coleman; four grandchildren, Logan Bell, Jeffery Bell, Kent Bell and Chris Guinn; one sister, Allene Warren of Big Spring; and several nieces and nephews.
