E.B. “Murf” Murphy, 83, of Midland, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 6:00-8:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11:00AM at Bellview Baptist Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.E.B. was born on April, 7, 1932 in Lubbock, TX to E.G. and Alpha Murphy and they moved to Ackerly, Texas in 1939. He went to school there until 1940 when they moved to Flower Grove School District where he played basketball and football, graduating in 1949.He started Texas Tech in September 1952 and was drafted into the Army in February 1953 staying until 1955 during the Korean Conflict.After returning home, Murf worked for West Texas Equipment Co. and U.S. Postal Service in Lubbock, TX. He started with the Internal Revenue Service in 1961 while stationed in Big Spring, Texas. He then moved to Midland in 1965 and retired from the Service in 1987.While in Midland, he was involved in the YMCA Indian Guides program and the North Central Little League Baseball. He was an organizer of the Midland Greater Football League, was on the Board of Kimberly Association and worked with the Midland Community Theater from 1969-1970. He also served on the Board of Directors of My Community Federal Credit Union for several years.He is preceded in death by his parents, EG Murphy and Alpha and by his sister, Bobbie Grigg.He is survived by his wife, Latrece Murphy of Midland; two sons, Kendal Murphy of Blackwell, TX, and Mark Murphy and wife, Kim of San Angelo, TX; one granddaughter, Alex Grasmick and husband, Brady of Tyler, TX; and by his nephews, Mike, Joe, and Glenn Grigg.The family would like to thank Jan Otho for all of her service in the last days. They would also like to thank Lisa, Shraddha, Jennifer and Senior Care Staff. Thanks to Ann Hobbs and Genell Emerson for the support throughout the day.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to a charity of one’s choice. ,
