Longtime Midland resident Dyan Symonds Agar passed away at home after a brief illness on September 25, 2016.She was born in 1934 in Oklahoma City, OK to Charles A. Symonds and Helen R. Symonds. She grew up in Tulsa and Oklahoma City with her parents, sister J’Val and brothers, Charles and H. N. Symonds.Dyan graduated from Classen High School in 1952 and attended the University of Oklahoma where she studied interior design and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. While at the University of Oklahoma, she met and married Frank Agar in 1956.The couple has two children, Courtney Agar Holliday and Frank Agar, Jr. After living in Canada and throughout Texas, the family moved to Midland in 1974.As an active volunteer in many organizations, Dyan was a member of the Junior League and First Presbyterian Church.She is survived by her son, Frank Agar, Jr. and wife, Sally of Midland; daughter, Courtney Holliday and husband, Carl of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren, Reistle Cohenour and husband, Christopher, and Hadley Holliday of Oklahoma City, OK; Frank Agar III, Richard Gibson Agar, and Lillian Jewel Agar, all of Midland; and, one great-grandson, Jaicks Henry Cohenour of Oklahoma City, OK. Other survivors include brothers Charles Symonds and wife, Emma Lou of Dallas and H. N. Symonds and wife, Margaret of Colleyville, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.After a private burial at Resthaven Memorial Park, a memorial service is scheduled at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Steven Schorr officiating.Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 800 W Texas, Midland, TX 79701 or a charity of choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
