Doyle Townsend, 79, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retired from the National Parks Service and a member of the Midland community since 1985.Doyle Dean Townsend was born on January 8, 1935, in Lamesa, Texas to Clifford and Thelma (Martin) Townsend. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Air Force. On April 16, 1957, Doyle married the love of his life, Judith York, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the National Parks Service starting in 1970. He was stationed at Big Bend, Grand Tetons, Indiana Dunes and Canyon Lands before retiring in 1996. Doyle was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed wood working and carpentry.Doyle is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Judy Townsend of Midland; his son, Ben Townsend and wife, Tammy of Midland; his grandson, Brock Townsend and wife, Samantha of Hawaii; his grandson, Carlin LaBelle of Midland; his grandson, Casey LaBelle of Midland; his grandson, Jeffrey Herrala of Midland; his granddaughter, Jayce Herrala of Midland; 2 great grandsons, Trent and Tyler Townsend of Hawaii; his sister, Nelora Hancock; his sister, Merna Denmark and numerous nieces, nephews and friends all of whom loved and will miss him dearly.\\Doyle is preceded by his parents, Clifford and Thelma Townsend; his son, Charles Townsend and his daughter, Deborah Townsend.Services are pending at this time.Funeral arrangements are under the care of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
