Doyce Reed, 89, of Big Spring, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.Doyce was born June 28, 1925 in the Atwell Community in Callahan County, Texas and married William Clifton Reed, April 18, 1949 in Big Spring. He preceded her in death March 21, 1984. She was a volunteer for over 30 years at the Senior Citizen Center and was selected as volunteer of the year on numerous occasions. In her younger years she taught school in the Putnam and Elbow Communities.She was a member of Berea Baptist Church.Doyce is survived by three sons, Gayland Reed and wife, Terrie of Midland, R. C. Reed and wife, Delynda of Big Spring, and Kent Reed and wife, Cindy of Camdenton, MO; three daughters, Patsy Fryar and husband, Claud of Big Spring, Kathy McCall and husband, Steve of Valdosta, GA, and Denise Reed and husband, Emmitt Bartee of Big Spring; 18 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel Perry and Fannie Mrytis (Foster) Purvis; six brothers; and one sister.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
