Douglas Wayne Mims, 89 of Cisco, Texas passed from this life Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.Doug was born November 23, 1925 at Fort Phantom Lake in Jones County, Texas, the son of Barney and Ila Mims. The family moved to Martin County when Doug was thirteen and began cotton farming. Doug was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He married Charlie Frances Matthews January 4, 1948 and that year also began a career with Schlumberger Well Service, retiring after 25 years. They moved to Cisco in 1969 where he raised cattle and opened the first Humble Gas Station on I20 between El Paso and Forth Worth. When he retired, he and Frances were either in a RV or on a motorcycle for years. After her death in 2004, Doug continued to travel until he developed health problems.Doug is survived by a daughter, Sandra Dickerson and husband, Don of Abilene; a sister, Dorothy Pinkston and husband, Terrell of Amarillo; brothers, Jack Mims and wife, Glenna, and Clay Mims both of Midland and Mike Barnett and wife, Ronda of Leander; and several nieces, nephews and cousins along with his Cisco buddies. I believe Doug and Frances are now watching us on their Can Am Motorcycle with a smile.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.npwelch.com ,
