Dorothy E. Wise, 89, of Granbury, formerly of Big Spring, died on Monday, November 16, 2009, in a San Marcos nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring with Pastor Chris Johnson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Ozona, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.She was born on April 25, 1920, in Utopia, Texas and married Willard Wise on June 1936 in Leakey, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2001.Dorothy was a longtime resident of Big Spring and had worked as an aide at the Big Spring State Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1974. She was a Baptist and was a member of Social Order of Beaucants.Survivors include seven daughters, Margie Ross of Granbury, Edith Adams and husband, Doug of Junction, Georgia Moose of Odessa, Ginger Rowan and husband, Hank of Anchorage, Alaska, Beth Karras of Norwood, Pennsylvania, Patricia Roten and husband, Robert of San Marcos and Barbara Myers and husband, Ray of Ozona; one son, W. L. Wise Jr. and wife, Renate of Round Rock; one sister, Virginia Brown of Pearsall; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott Ross; four brothers, John, Billy, Jack and Wayland Wallis; and one sister, Ruth Smith.The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
