Dorothy Maxine Caswell Nance, age 93, of Midland, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. There will be a private burial. A gathering will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, February 15, 2016 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Midland.Dorothy was born May 13, 1922 in Loraine, TX to Aubrey and Eunice Caswell. She graduated from Midland High in 1940. Dorothy and Homer Allen Nance were married on June 14, 1943; and they resided in Midland thereafter, while faithfully attending First Baptist Church.Dorothy was a homemaker who especially enjoyed preparing delicious meals. She was a devoted room mother, and served as Paul’s den mother in Boy Scouts. She enjoyed extensive traveling with Homer, and their favorite location was camping at Beaver Creek National Forest in South Fork, CO.She loved feeding the neighborhood birds, and she and Homer adopted three stray cats: Jodie, Brandie, and Tommi. Their final rescue cat, Taffy, currently rules the household! Dorothy and her close friend, Mary Ann Stice volunteered for the Meals on Wheels organization for 20 years. She thoroughly enjoyed working with Christy Lacy, Pam Brown and Donita Fain for many years in the nursery at the Mother’s Day Out ministry at First Baptist Church. One of her greatest pleasures, which she discovered later in life, was enjoying a ride with Christy Lacy in her BMW Z4 (with the top down!).Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Eunice Caswell; her husband of 64 years, Homer Nance; and her brother, Willie Paul Caswell.Dorothy is survived by son, James Paul Nance of Midland; daughter, Peggy Nance Hall and husband Donnie of Houston; grandchildren, Bryan Hall of Austin and Sarah Hall of Houston; nieces, Kay Nance Linn and Becky Nance Owens; numerous cousins; and dear friends.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Home Hospice (200 W. Illinois Avenue, Suite 190, Midland, TX 79701), First Baptist Church Missions, or Student Schooling in Haiti, (2104 W. Louisiana Avenue, Midland, TX 79701). ,
