Dorothy was born on August 7, 1930, Christoval, Texas, to M.A. and Irene Loudamy. A lifelong resident of the community, she dedicated much of her life to running Carter’s Furniture alongside her husband, Terry Carter. Together, they built a business that served generations of families with care and commitment.
Dorothy was known for her generosity and kindness, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. She was affectionately called “the cookie lady” by many, as she always had a large plate of cookies ready to share. Her warmth extended beyond her home and business into her church family at Baptist Temple Church, where she found joy in fellowship and faith. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. Dorothy had a desire to share Christ with those around her and was a wonderful example of what it means to live a life devoted to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Carter; her parents, M.A. and Irene Loudamy; her sister, Joy Loudamy; her brothers, Loy Loudamy and Roy Loudamy and a niece Dacia Roen.
Dorothy is survived by her sister-in-laws, JoAnn Loudamy and Wilma Carter; nieces Lisa Hobbs, Diane Roush, Pam Simpson, Andi Thompson, Shannon Thompson and Sandy McCoy; nephews Steve Carter, Joe Carter, and Kent Simpson; as well as many great nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Dorothy’s kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
