Dorothy Meyer Kincaid passed from this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. She began her earthly journey on September 21, 1924. Her parents were Otta Henry Meyer and Mabel Malone Meyer. Dorothy was born in Corsicana, TX and spent her childhood with her parents in various East Texas oil fields.During her school years, Dorothy was an active member of First Baptist Church Longview, TX. Upon graduation from Longview High School, Dorothy enrolled in Dodd College in Shreveport, LA. She subsequently transferred to Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women’s University), where she graduated with a degree in Biology. As an undergraduate, Dorothy began her life-long enthusiasm for collegiate sports.Dorothy decided to train as a medical laboratory technician at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA, which was then a premier program for that discipline. After becoming a Registered Medical Technician, Dorothy was employed by Charity Hospital.During her time in New Orleans, she maintained an active membership at First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Attendance Clerk. There she met another Attendance Clerk, Hansel Kincaid. They developed a tennis competition and then a courtship. They were married in Dorothy’s home church in Longview, TX in 1947.The couple moved to Midland in 1951 and became active members of First Baptist Church. At First Baptist, Dorothy had a central role in building a significant church library that, in 1985, contained over 9,000 volumes.Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Hansel O. Kincaid and her parents. Special thanks and appreciation are extended to the staff at Cowden Cottage of Manor Park and faithful neighbor and caregiver, Sandy Hayes.Friends are invited to an informal time of fellowship and hymn singing at First Baptist Church Chapel of Midland on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 3:00 PM. After the informal gathering, internment will be at Resthaven Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
