Dorothy “Dotty” Rhoads Sain
Dorothy Jean Rhoads “Dotty” Sain, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her beloved husband, Cecil, on January 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Dotty was born in a house in Greenfield, MO, on December 23, 1936, to Guy and Grace Hall Rhoads.
Dotty grew up in Midland, Texas, attending Midland schools, and Midland High until she went to work for the telephone company as an operator at age 17.
She met the love of her life, Cecil Joe Sain, in Eldorado, OK, and they married in Lawton, OK, just after they both turned 18 years old, in 1955. Soon after the wedding, Cecil was deployed to Japan with the US Air Force, and returned one year later, and they moved to Everett, WA, where he was stationed. After he was discharged from the Air Force, they moved back to Midland.
In 1958, their son, Ricky Paul, was born. Their daughter, Nancy Gail, followed in 1959.
Dotty was a devoted mother, and was very involved in PTA, and was always a Room Mother, present at school parties all through her kids’ elementary years. She made many friends while attending Midland’s First Assembly of God Church.
When Cecil bought an HVAC company in San Angelo, in 1985, they moved there, and she went to work for him, and together they ran the business until their retirement in 2017, at the age of 79.
Dotty loved walking, traveling, going for drives, texting, reading, and especially spending time with her grandsons, Jared and Josh, at the house she and Cecil lived in on Lake Nasworthy.
In 2023, Cecil and Dotty moved back to Midland.
Dotty was preceded in death by her beloved Cecil, February 14, 2024, and by her grandson, Jared, in 2014.
Dotty is survived by her son, Rick Sain, of Knickerbocker, TX; her daughter Nancy Mabry and husband Tim of Midland; sister Mary Evelyn Rhoads Sain of Amarillo, TX; grandson Josh Mabry, Midland, granddaughter Cariann Sain, Odessa, great-grandson Jack Martinez, great- granddaughter Aly Mae Martinez, two bonus great-granddaughters Lauren and Bella Saucedo; sister-in-law Yolanda Gail Grant, brother-in-law John Cockrell, her very special nieces, Cindy, Sharon and Lori, and her friend Evangelina Torres.
