When I was growing up in West Texas, a visit from Uncle Jim, Aunt Dorothy, and cousin Bruce was pure joy. Same when we visited. And one of the best parts was seeing my beautiful Aunt Dorothy. I thought she was pretty and fun, and because she was vivacious and projected happiness, fun emanated from her. Dorothy lighted up a room upon entry. And, for me, Aunt Dorothy always made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. She would scoop me up and smother me with affection. I really felt like I mattered to her. I suspect that was one of her greatest gifts. I suspect that many, not just family and friends, feel the same. I love you Aunt Dorothy!

Our family moved to Midland shortly after Jim & Dorothy did, and Dorothy was the first friend that my mother made. They met while out walking in an early morning. That chance encounter led to our family celebrating holidays with the Moring & the Barnes families during our time in Midland and I still have fond memories. Dorothy was like a second mother to me during those years and many that followed. To me, Dorothy exemplified the spirit of West Texas. She was kind, caring. giving, and always up for an adventure. Our time in Midland was greatly enhanced by us knowing Dorothy. The world needs more people like Dorothy Moring, and she will be greatly missed by all of us that knew and loved her. - Alan Buonasera
