Donald “Donny” Walker, 71, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel.Donny was born on June 1, 1946, to Don and Sheila Walker in Winwick, England. He graduated from Midland Lee in 1965; he then joined the Navy as an aircraft electrician and was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1966, Donny married his high school sweetheart, Alva Jean. Throughout his life, Donny found many hobbies to fill his time. In the early years, he and Alva Jean enjoyed square dancing and bowling competitively. Donny logged thousands of miles riding his Harley Davidson across the United States, including several trips to Sturgis with his wife and friends. He loved anything to do with trucks and heavy machinery. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 40 years and served as Worshipful Master from 1986-1987 at Lodge 1024 in Andrews, Texas. Donny started working for The Superior Oil Company in 1972 and worked his way up from roustabout to gang pusher and eventually production foreman in 1987 when Superior was bought out by Mobil. He continued with Mobil, which became Exxon-Mobil, until he retired around 1994. After retirement, Donny drove for Benchmark for several years. He enjoyed his years of traveling and seeing the many sites the U.S. had to offer. In 2010, he found himself at work again, this time for Clayton Williams as a production foreman, retiring for good in 2014. While Donny had many hobbies, perhaps his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. His love for the Lord was apparent to all who met him.He is survived by his wife, Alva Jean Walker; son, Stuart Walker and his wife, Kathy; daughter, Heather and her husband, Dennis Simpson; grandchildren, Dusty and Brianna Walker, Blaine and Brittney Walker, Cassidy Jane Walker, Shannon and Rachel Ritchie, Allie Simpson, and Andy Simpson; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Ian Ritchie and Cooper and Sadey Walker; brother, Steven Walker and his wife, Paula; sister, Deborah Rhodes; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Shelia Walker. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
