Donald Noble Ewan passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on March 30, 1931, to Joyce Dean Ewan and Dorothy Noble Ewan in Chester, Pennsylvania. Most of his young life was spent in Wichita, Kansas. Don attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Degree. During this time he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and Blue Key, a men’s honorary fraternity group and SMU Student Council. At this time he also met the love of his life, Betty Joyce Scott, who became his wife on June 19, 1954 in Pampa, Texas. They married at First Methodist Church. During and after his time at SMU, he was a member of the United States Naval Reserve based in Dallas.Don started his career as an engineer at Chance Vought Aircraft Company and Ingersoll-Rand Company, eventually becoming Vice President of Sales at The Ortloff Corporation. While there, he was elected ‘Boss of the Year’ by the National Association of Secretaries in Midland. Don was passionately involved in his community. This included First United Methodist Church, where he held a position on the Administrative Board as well as various committees. He was a dedicated member of the Partners Sunday School Class. He also was a member of the Midland Downtown Rotary Club for 49 years, The Exchange Club, was President of the SMU Alumnae Association, and he was a regular participant in The Midland Country Club Men’s Golf Association. Most of all, Don loved being a husband, father, and grandfather, and taking his family on trips around the world. He was always looking to make someone’s day brighter and better with his witty humor and generous heart.Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Scott Ewan, his daughters and son-in-law Brenda and Jim Shute and Linda and Jerry Roudebush and grandchildren Molly Shute Powell and husband Kyle, Laura Shute and Scott Roudebush and his wife Michelle.\\Don and his family are grateful for their loving friends, and the compassionate and competent care provided by the staff of Manor Park.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at The Midland Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 300 North Main, Midland, Texas 79701, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4400 N.
