Donald “Don” Wayne Marshall of Midland, Tx passed away on February 21, 2022. Visitation will be Thursday Feb 24, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Services will be Friday Feb 25 at 10:00 AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens in Midland.
Don was born on September 9, 1941 in Crane, TX to Henry Allen and Edna Geneva Marshall. Don attended Midland High School and University of Texas El Paso, as well as Sul Ross University. He was the Texas State Golden Gloves champion and went on to professional boxing in Eureka, California as Texas Don Marshall. He had a fight against Mohammed Ali which ended in a draw.
Don went on to become a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He was a proud Journeyman Electrician for 52 years. During that time he worked all over the United States and loved every day he worked. He was a hard worker and loved by everyone he was associated with.
Don was a dedicated loving husband to his soulmate Patricia. He was also a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. There are no words to say what a great God-fearing man Don was. He was and is loved and respected by his entire family.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Patricia Van Marshall. He is also survived by son, Robert “Duke” Marshall and wife Shannon of Abilene, Mysti Frazier and husband Rusty of Midland, Ronnie Rains of The Woodlands, Mandy Butler and husband Jeff of Marlow, OK. Grandchildren Katelyn Myers and husband Jacob of McKinney, Kyleigh Marshall of Lewisville, Darian Butler of Midland, Julie Butler of Midland, Erica Thompson & husband Kyle of Jacksonville, NC, Jaci Alviar and husband Simon of Corpus Christi and Cameron Rains of The Woodlands. Great grandchildren Elijah and Ryah Myers, Cavanaugh Warren and Lilly & McKenzie Thompson. Don is also survived by brothers Bill Marshall of Bronte and Odis Marshall and wife June of Kermit as well as sister Betty Jo Crow of Pflugerville.
Don is preceded in death by parents Henry Allen and Edna Geneva Marshall, sister Clara Jean Pope and brother Earnie Marshall.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ashton Medical Lodge of Midland and Hospice of Midland for the loving care they gave.
