Donald L. "Don" Fisher Sr.November 26, 1938 April 21, 2009 Donald Lee Fisher, 70, joined his and our Heavenly Father on April 21, 2009. He was born November 26, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Harley A. and Mabel Fisher. He spent his early life in his hometown of Mount Vernon where he met and married the one true love of his life, Pat Staley. Don and Pat moved to Odessa, Texas in 1960, and a few years later moved to Midland. Don worked as a truck driver, mechanic, deliveryman, and shipping and receiving manager until his retirement. He had a vivid imagination and was very good with his hands. This resulted in becoming an avid wood worker. His shop was always full of various furniture projects. The projects he enjoyed the most were building toys for children and handy craft projects for "Pat's kids" in her Sunday school and summer Bible school classes. He was a soft -spoken, loving, compassionate man, and a true and strong friend. For several years he shared his giving nature by spending part of his Saturdays doing yard work and home repair for the older members of the church and community. Although he asked for nothing in return, several of the ladies would not let him leave without giving him something from their kitchen for his kids. His faith in his Lord Jesus was and is the foundation of his life. His loving wife shared this same faith, and together it guided the direction of their life. His devotion to Jesus was the source of his strength to be a good husband and father. His love of Jesus was the roots of his compassion that he shared with all. Don was preceded in death by his father, Harley A. Fisher; his mother, Mabel Fisher; his brothers, Carl Fisher, Harley Fisher and Harold Fisher; sisters, Evelyn Fisher and Anna Maud Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Pat Fisher of Midland; children, Rev. Don and Rhonda Fisher Jr. of Hoisington, KS, Becky Fisher of Midland and Tim Lyles of Midland.
