Donald W. Don Elliott, 81, of Midland, died Friday, February 15, 2013. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 7:00-9:00PM. Memorial services will be held at St. Marks United Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:00AM. Don was born on May 5, 1931 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Robert and Eva Elliott. He married the love of his life, Ruby Smith, in Virginia in 1950. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Don became very skilled in the trade of brick masonry and worked in this vocation until 1983, at which time he began working for Manor Park as Building and Grounds Coordinator. Don retired from Manor Park in 1999. Don was a very loving and compassionate man with a gentle soul. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Don was a man of his word and was from the old school where a handshake was as good as any written contract. Don and Ruby shared countless hours together working at their favorite hobby doing crafts. They owned Art With Nails and enjoyed traveling to various craft shows selling their crafts for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his family and especially the ones that called him PaPa. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Elliott of Midland; son, Gary Elliott of Midland; son, Mark Elliott and Barbara of Midland; daughter, Jennifer Shaw of Mt. Vernon, ME; and daughter, Tracey Arenivas and Jr. of Midland; 10 grandchildren, Amy Aguilar and Mario of Midland; Cassie Bundy and Lan of Midland; Adam Elliott and Lindsay of Midland; Clint Elliott of Midland; Aaron Shaw of Mt. Vernon, ME; Jarred Shaw of Mt. Vernon, ME; Brian Shaw and Michelle of Mt. Vernon, ME; Addison Arenivas of Midland; Chole Arenivas of Midland; Sara Arenivas of Midland; 5 great-grandchildren, Afton, Laylan, Locke, Capri, and Camden. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Ruby and Family. Don was just a wonderful person and he made such a difference in the lives of the employee and residents at Manor Park. I am so sorry he is gone and so blessed that I knew him.

We will really miss Don's smiling face next door. He never said an unkind word, always encouraging, and always willing to lend a hand. He adored his grandkids and always made time for them. He absolutely loved you Mrs. Ruby and we know you miss him greatly. Let us know if you need anything. May God bless you and give you strength in the days to come.

I have so many fond memories of Don as well the family. I loved him like a father. Growing up together with Gary, Mark, and Jenny was like the TV Show the Wonder Years. Those memories and Don will never be forgotten. Love to all. Carol
