Donald Clark Green, 92, of Big Spring, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 in the local Veteran nursing home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born October 14, 1928 in Floydada, Texas to James Emanuel Green and Frances Margaret Matthews. He married Betty Lou (McGinnis) Green August 10, 1957 in Ballinger, Texas.
Donald taught math at Big Spring High School than later became an Administrator till he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and had perfect attendance for 49 years. During retirement, Donald enjoyed being a part of the Bell Ringers Club, The Tardy Bells. He sang in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), and participated in the yearly Living Christmas Tree. Donald was a brilliant man and he received a 4 year degree in Mathematics at the age of 19. He even knew the alphabet forwards and backwards and he could give directions anywhere for he was a walking road map. Donald was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family who he loved more than anything.
Survivors include his son, Donny Green and wife, Debbie; one granddaughter, Alix Green; three great-grandchildren, Bari Green, Maci Green, Levi Green; one sister, Margaret Ryman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Green; his parents; three brothers; and grandson, Cody Green.
