Donald C. "Don" Wambaugh, 79, of Midland, passed away on June 7, 2005 in Midland Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2005 at 11:00 am at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity with Rev. Mark Cannaday rector officiating.He was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 11, 1926. His parents were Mary Scarlet and Charles Moffatt Wambaugh. He graduated from South Kent Preparatory School and served in the Air Force in World War II. Don graduated from Ohio State University in 1951. He married Annette Olson on June 2, 1952 in Worthington, Ohio. He started his professional career with Continental Oil Company. In 1960 he became an independent geologist. He has been active in American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Roswell Geological Society, Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES), and West Texas Geological Society. He has been chairman of the Midland chapter of SIPES, President of the SIPES Foundation, a National Director of SIPES, and a National President pf SIPES. He is an Honorary Life Member of both SIPES and the West Texas Geological Foundation. Don was a member Epsicopal Church of the Holy Trinity where he has served on the vestry.Survivors include his wife Annette Olson Wambaugh, two sons and their wives, Bill and Libby of The Woodlands, TX, John and Debbie of Brookdale, CA and five grandchildren, Ashleigh Wambaugh Sutton and her husband Scott Sutton, Abby Wambaugh, Allison Wambaugh, Zoe Wambaugh, and Zak Wambaugh.Honorary pallbearers will be William Ayecock, Bill Probandt, Toby Carleton, Arlen Edgar, Charlie Godfrey, and John Yuronka.
