Larry I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Mine just passed away too. Fathers, as you well know are special, they are our original heros and seem to be larger then life and we only hope we can be as good as they are and IF we are lucky we will be. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help my friend. Andy

Dear Larry and Molly, I was so sorry to hear about Don's passing. He was a huge inspiration to me all my life, and both he and Nan always felt like family to me. I have many cherished memories of them throughout my life. He and Nan are together again in God's embrace.

I have many fond memories of Uncle Don. We spent many fun times in Big Sping. Uncle Don always made sure I got a ride on the tractor for every visit! The last years Uncle Don sent our family fresh pecans from the tree. My Pecan Pies always take a bit lbetter! We all ( Ike,June, Janet and Norma) are holding Larry and Molly in our thoughts and prayers.

Don was one of the most giving people I ever met and what was unique was he rarely accepted credit for any of it. He made a huge impact on my life during the time I worked with him at Cosden. Sorry I missed the service. I would have liked to have been there to honor him personally. He left a legacy no doubt. Heaven is rejoicing no doubt. God Bless his family in the days to come. You will be in my prayers.

I'm posting this for my mother Irene Carrico (nee Kiker), her eyesight is not very good. She said that Don was one of the sweetest persons she had ever met and was very sad at his passing.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

We were so very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. We met Don and Nan through Kelly's parents -- Jerry and Dorothy Rogers. We attended a holiday gathering at their house a few years back and will always remember the beautiful and unique Christmas trees Nan decorated and the warm welcome and hospitality of both. We keep a picture of that event in our home. We also had the pleasure of having dinner with Don during one of his weekly outings with Dorothy and Jerry -- and very much enjoyed his company. He was a very sweet gentleman. You are in our prayers. Kelly & Renee

Dear Larry and Molly Ken and I are so sorry to hear about your Dad. He was such a good man and he and your Mother were just perfect for each other. We thought the world of both of them. They both made a difference in this world. We want you to know you will be in our prayers and I can truley say we know how you feel as you may know we have both lost our parents too. Keep your eyes on Jesus and know they are both resting in His arms. Ken and Shyrlene

Larry and Molly Words can never express how much we thought of your Mom and Dad. When we first met in the early 50's we knew they were people to regard as dear friends. Barbara and Nan considered themselves as "sisters" and spent many hours together at the farm and at the Mary Jane Club in Coahoma. Although we did not know them at the time, Don and Nan were married May 6, 1948 and we were married one day prior in FtWorth. We moved to Big Spring in Oct 1948 and met them shortly thereafter. The railroad moved me from Big Spring in 1960 but we stayed in touch with your Dad and Mom. Once we all met at Possum Kingdom Lake (you were with them) and we enjoyed our visit. We were in Big Spring in 1996 and met your mom and dad for breakfast then later went to the homeplace to see your Mom's and Dad's latest endeavors. Barbara has a ceramic rabbit that Nan gave her on that visit. They had a peacock I recall. Our next visit was just this last October 2008 and your Dad insisted we spend the nights with him. We went to the Cowboy Cafe one night then brought he and Slick a hamburger from Sonic on another occasion. It was a joyous time and we will always treasure this visit. It was fortunate that we were there on his 82nd birthday. I am the same age as Don and Barbara and Nan were the same age. We will make a contribution in your Dad and Mom's name to the Scholarship Fund at the College. God bless both of you and your families. Wish we could be there to honor Don. The angels rejoiced as the gates of Heaven swung open to welcome Don McKinney - and although we could say this world has lost a bit of its luster with this loss, the truth is Don only made it a better place with his words and deeds. His contributions will continue on even though he is no longer with us. To those who did not have the opportunity to know Don - you missed out on knowing an extraordinary man. For those of us who were lucky enough to call him "friend" our lives are richer for the honor of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May God wrap you all in His arms and provide the comfort that only He can. Rest in peace, Don, you were loved by many - and you will be missed. His Lord said to him, "Well done good and faithful servant...." Matthew 25:23
