Don R. Newsom, 76, died in Big Spring, on Friday, April 11, 2003. A grocerman and restauranteur, he was a resident of the community for over fifty years. Returning from Naval service in World War II, he graduated from Texas A&M in 1949. Later that year he married Marilyn Keaton Newsom. She preceded him in death in 1992. Always involved in community work and service, he presided over the local A&M Club several times. He chaired the annual scholarship bar-b-que for fifty years. He founded and chaired the local Toastmaster's Club, Teenage Baseball Association, Knife and Fork Club and coached baseball for eighteen years. He was a member of the boards of the Chamber of Commerce and Salvation Army and served of the Board of Regents at McMurray University for two years. He was named,
