Don Oran Bomar, of Midland, Texas, entered the gates of his eternal home on December 9, 2007. Don was born March 23, 1934 in Silverton, Texas, the son of D. Oran and Carrie Tice Bomar. The family moved to Lubbock in 1944, where Don attended junior high and Lubbock High School. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum geology. In 1957 he married and moved to Midland where he began a career as a petroleum landman and lease broker. Don and his first wife were divorced in 1979, and in 1986 he married his loving wife, Martha Ann Pressly.Don was a former member of the Permian Basin Landman's Association and the Texas and Southwestern Livestock Producer's Association. In recent years, Don has been active in Alpha Omega, Serenity Group, Community Bible Study, Hi-Sky Emmaus and the Daniel Department of First Baptist Church of Midland.Don was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters, Patricia Colston and Faye Tice Billingsley. He is survived by his wife, Martha of Midland; his daughter, Cindy Hellinger and husband, Tom, and three grandchildren, Aleisha, Sarah and Caleb of Freeland, Washington; his son, Dobie Oran Bomar and wife, Mary, and four sons, Deven and Dillon Bomar, and Wesley and Taylor DuBois of Midland; his daughter, Annette Pressly Wilie and husband, Brett, and granddaughter, Hannah of Waxahachie, TX; his son, James Pressly, Jr. and wife, Carla, and two grandsons, C.J. and Harrison of Flower Mound; three nephews, one niece and numerous cousins.A burial service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2007, with Pastor Gary Dyer, officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Pallbearers will be Marc Howard, Roger Schelling, George Harris, Warren Bartley, Bob Hilton and Jim Lott. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Daniel Department, Herb Wales, Calvin Hancock, Ken Arnold and Roger Clifton.Don met our Savior, Jesus Christ, in February 1971. His faith and devotion to our Lord touched many lives. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, grandfather and friend. Martha ... Just wanted you to know that Bob & I are thinking of you, and praying for you! Don's services were a tribute to his life ... and his giving heart. Sorry I didn't get to see you that day, but did want you to know you are loved, and thought about often. Amy & Bob Houser

I did not know Don. I do know and love his son, Dobie and his family. Dobie has told me of his love for his Dad many times over the years. I know his heart is breaking. Nick and I send our heartfelt sympathies to him and all who mourn the loss of Don.

Dear Martha, My Mom, Patsy Bomar Fitzgerald, is a cousin. It is always a joy to listen to the "Bomar Tales". We truly will miss Don and his abounding love for others. We love you Martha and pray for God's comfort during your time of loss.

Don took life one day at a time and enjoyed it the same way. His spirit will remain with us always.....

Don has touched so many lives, just as you have Martha. Love you.

A heart of gold and a great sense of humor. I knew Martha from work before I met Don. He always had a smile and a kind word when we'd meet at church. He is one of the kindest men I've ever known. A soul who encouraged all. His life was a real blessing to so many. I'm proud to have been one.

Don You always had time to stop and visit. We will miss your wonderful spirit and wit. It did not matter if it had been a week or a month since we last met. It was always as if we had talked just yesterday. May the Lord be with you Martha as you pray through Dons graduation. We love you both. Phil and Deneise

I will surely miss Don and I am glad he has returned to his true home in Heaven. I never told him how, in my mind, he had become my 2nd grandfather. He was so light in spirit and had such a friendly down to earth sense of humor. Just like my grandfather who passed in 2001. I truly admired and looked forward to crossing paths with him wherever that might be. May you find peace in his passing Martha and family.

Don, I will miss you so much even tho we didn't live in Midland anymore. Whenever I had my knees replaced & was in so much pain, the only thing that helped the pain was your one hour long distant phone calls and the prayers you kept saying for me. You were always there with the prayers either with me or over the phone. Whenever I needed them, God always seemed to let you know & send you to me. I will forever be indebted to you. Heaven has a great prayer warrior now. Martha, thank you for loving Don & being there for him while he was in so much pain. God always has a way knowing who & what we need. Your loss is our loss. Don, you are already truly missed, but I know you are in your heavenly home and with your loved ones who went to prepare a place for you. I will never forget the ride to your Walk to Emmaus. It was quite a blessing to me to sponser you knowing what a wonderful christian you were already. The ride back Sunday was so much better. You never did realize just how many people loved you & looked up to you, but we did. You will be just as much a bright star in Heaven as you were here on earth. Don always impressed us with his "upbeat" attitude no matter what was going on and we had great respect and admiration for him. His love for the Lord, his wife and family were always evident. Martha and family, Don was what I describe as a gentle man! My dad was much like that- so -kind and he had a quiet way about him. I admired him a great deal. My sympathies go out to you, but the good thing is that you know where he is and that is the most important thing in our lives! We will be with him again- he just beat us there- perhaps he and Guy are having a conversation about the last time that they were together

Both Don and his wife were such good neighbors and always had something nice to say about the weather, the grass, or the Theatre when we saw them on performance nights. We will miss Don in the neighborhood and his constant care of the yard. It was always kept so nice. Our Daughter who lives there now will miss him too. God Bless! Ron and Leah Sutcliffe

Everywhere we went here in Midland, people would ask us if we were related. I was proud to say yes.

We will miss Don, but know that he is made new in Christ. I pray for God's comfort for the family.
